For more than three decades, Roe v. Wade has ruled the land. Five men decided it was right, constitutional for a fetus, living cells at work, a baby in the womb to be terminated, destroyed. Four men disagreed. Five men made pro-choice the law of the land.
Since that time, millions of babies have been aborted, killed. Some would say those babies have been murdered, especially those who were extinguished in the condition known as partial-birth abortion.
Senator Obama agrees with the decision and the principle of Roe v. Wade. Mr. Obama thinks that abortion is in fact legal, fully constitutional and should be maintained at all costs. He champions openly and aggressively pro-choice, the right of any woman to abort a fetus at any time as she so chooses. Obama and the Democrats are deeply and passionately committed to the concept of pro-choice.
Senator McCain on the other hand believes that Roe v. Wade was improperly decided. He believes there is no such thing as a constitutional right to abortion. He stands against the killing of a baby at any stage of its in utero development under any circumstances. If his value system is clear, Senator McCain is against abortion even in the case of rape, incest or the life of the mother or baby.
In fact, John McCain is on record as highly favoring a constitutional amendment which would ban abortions. Such an amendment if enacted would automatically overturn Roe v. Wade, for the constitution is the supreme law of the land. An amendment of this nature would preempt, do away with the power of any judge or judges to interpret the constitution as he or she sees fit. No judge could overturn, rule against or change the express instruction and declaration of the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.
Senator McCain has promised to appoint candidates for justices of the Supreme Court when a vacancy occurs who will in fact vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. Senator Obama on the other hand has promised the opposite, namely the avowed intention to appoint only those judges who would uphold Roe v. Wade.
So, fellow Americans, here then is a social issue, one which may perhaps be at the top of the list of Family Values on which Republicans and Democrats have starkly opposing
views. The difference is clear, very clear. Democrats and Obama are pro-choice. Republicans and McCain are pro-life. Therefore, a vote for Obama is a vote for prochoice, for abortion. A vote for McCain is a vote for pro-life, against abortion. So, my friends and fellow Americans, how will you vote?
That depends, some say, on the priority for the abortion issue. If this issue is vitally important, it can alone influence a vote. Polls tell us that there are many single-issue voters who will vote for or against the candidate depending upon their position on that issue, one of which is in fact abortion. Many assume that for Christians, there can be only one position. Namely pro-life. But there are many Christians, including some evangelicals who will vote Democratic and for Obama regardless of the abortion issue. In short, they state by their vote that the Democratic platform and the belief systems of Mr. Obama in total are more important than abortion as a single issue. What do you think?
So then, the Democrats and Obama are pro-choice, for abortion. The Republicans and McCain are pro-life, and against abortion. How will you vote? Will you vote for the Democrats, for Obama, for pro-choice, for abortion, for Roe v. Wade or will you vote for the Republicans, for John McCain, for pro-life, against abortion, and against Roe v. Wade?
American anxiously awaits your decision November 4. When you vote, know the issues and know them well.
